Problems in the modern landscape
Plants in the modern landscape face a number of challenges. They are removed from the ecosystem they evolved in and placed in planters and lawns. A tree is the sum of many parts from the largest animals that inhabit and gain nourishment from the tree to the microscopic bacteria, fungi, and nematodes that live in the tree and the environment created by it. Like all living things these symbiotic relationships are crucial for good health.
Compacted Soils
Compacted Soil occurs when soil particles are pressed together causing a reduction in pore space between the particles. Compaction damages the soil structure which is important because the soil structure determines the soils ability to hold and conduct water, nutrients and air all necessary for a healthy root ecosystem.
