Injections
Tree injections are gaining in popularity as the technology, application methods and chemicals improve. As with all treatments there are advantages and dis advantages to tree injections. One of the biggest advantages is the reduction in potential environmental impacts. The chemicals are being injected directly into the tree so there is no pesticide drift, over spray, leaching, and there is very little if any non target insect mortality. The biggest disadvantage to the injections is the fact that the injections injure the tree. Holes must be drilled in the tree for many of the injection systems. This injures the tree and can limit the number of times the application method can be used. The rate of absorption and the effects on the tree must be taken into account when considering this treatment option. Several of the most common injection systems are: Mauget, Arborjet, and Arborsystems. When choosing a treatment option, tree species, size, health, location, and what is being treated all must be considered. Though there are many advantages to injections they are not always the best choice.
