There has been a surge in small companies cutting corners to provide cheap tree services.  Why should you care about this?  Because if you higher any of these companies you could be putting yourself at risk!  Several of these companies present themselves as reputable tree companies and appear to have insurance and the capability to do the job.  Once hired they remove the tree or trees in question and chip the brush.  Then several people show up with trucks and trailers and start to remove the wood from the job site.  These people are there for the free wood!  They are NOT employees of the company that was hired to do the work and they are NOT insured.  They are solicited from Craig's list or somewhere else to clean up the tree for free.  If there is an accident the owner of the property could be found liable for the injury!

When you are hiring a company it is important that you get a guarantee that everyone who sets foot on your property will be an employee of the company or a legitimate subcontractor that has proof of liability and workers compensation.  You have a right to know that the company you higher is doing the job and that they are not putting you at risk by having unskilled and uninsured people on your property!
